Today I celebrate a quarter in unemployment!
  • New things I have done.
  • Tennis.
  • Knife crime in the UK.
  • Meridian line.

Yep, it seems like yesterday but today is exactly 3 months since I left my job with $BIG_BANK.

Since then I learned to ride a bike, travelled to Lanzarote and Canada, started proper photography courses with a proper SLR camera and have been baking (fresh banana muffins for breakfast mmmmh!) and cooking (gazpacho is messy to make, delicious during the summer).

I have a couple more of planned projects that had been in the back burner for ages, plus training to prepare me to get a new job later this year (if there are any, with everybody talking up a recession such happening is a self fulfilling prophecy).

Am I the only person to find Jie Zheng very attractive? (apart from her husband that is) Talking to some guys about the most attractive girls in Wimbledon this year, I made my preference for her known above the Easter European peroxide blondes littering the courts of Wimbledon this year, I was in a minority of one...

As for the winner, it will be Venus Williams. You heard it here first. The men? I'll tune in the TV to Nadal-Federer on Sunday (after a little race I got myself into here in London) before that, who cares...

How do you stop teenagers killing each other with knifes? Curfews I say. all 18 years old and younger should be on curfew after 19:00. No ifs, no buts. If you are caught afterwards then you go to do community service for a month, after 42 days of not being told why you are in the slammer.

We are in our way to a police state anyway, so we should at least reap some benefits out of this.

I just noticed a few days ago a plaque claiming to be exactly in meridian 0. When I go for a jog I go from the Eastern to the Western hemisphere and back each time. So what you ask? Nothing really. Just that.

Jie Zheng by anonimouse (2.00 / 0) #1 Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 07:54:59 AM EST
Since I prefer coloured and black to peroxide blondes, I thought I'd be a reasonable candidate to find Jie Zheng attractive.

Nope, I fail it.

I spend some time in East Asia... by Tonatiuh (2.00 / 0) #6 Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 07:50:16 PM EST
So most likely I am more appreciative than most of the charms of ladies of those lands.

I think at age 18 by Pasofol (2.00 / 0) #2 Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 09:04:25 AM EST
they might be considered adults and as such their freedoms can't be taken away.  UK might be different.

What about 19 year olds they magically stop knifing after they turn 19?  What about 20 and so on?  I think you get my point.

There is a curfew here for anyone under 18 but it’s rarely enforced.

I think people have to start standing up for themselves and not taking crap from these assholes.  Most people tend to turn their heads when they see young punks doing something wrong/bad and that propels them to do worse things.

Is often a good way to get knifed.  I am sure for every 100 times a youth is asked to turn their stereo down or whatever, 99 times they just deliver some verbal.  But it is that one rare time that makes the news and this is uppermost in many peoples minds.

You can't knife somebody .... by Tonatiuh (2.00 / 0) #7 Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 07:54:21 PM EST
... if you are secluded in your home with your uncaring parents and annoying siblings only. OK, you could knife them but you would not have a plausible alibi...

I threw around 18 just as an initial suggestion, adjust to your locality accordingly.

Venus Williams FTW by MillMan (2.00 / 0) #4 Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 01:53:10 PM EST
A bold prediction, that.

When I'm imprisoned as an enemy combatant, will you blog about it?

It is bold. by Tonatiuh (2.00 / 0) #5 Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 07:48:40 PM EST
Have you seen Serena W. angry ? If I was her sibling I will do nothing to make her angry.
